                                Intellectual Property Rights

Intellectual property rights have become more important in the face of changing trade environment for few features like global competition, high innovation risk, short product cycle, need for rapid changes in technology, high investment in research & development (R&D), production & marketing, and need for highly skilled human resources.

Intellectual property rights as a collective term includes all independent IP rights, which can be collectively used for protecting different aspects of an inventive work for multiple protection.

Intellectual property rights refer creation of mind like inventions, literary, artistic work, image, symbol, names & designs used in business or industries. 

It is divided into two parts i) Industrial Property & ii) Copyright.

Industrial Property means property, which includes inventions like patent, Trademark, industrial designs and geographic indications of source.

Copyright which includes literary works like as novel, poems and plays, films, musical works, artistic works like drawings, painting, photographs, sculptures and also architectural designs. Rights related with copyright include those of performing artists in their performances.
